Description
Glasgow Kelvin College is seeking a customer focused Finance & Funding Assistant to join our Finance Team. The main purpose of this role is Student Funding.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative, financial and customer service skills. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to support students at key points in their educational journey, helping them overcome financial barriers and achieve their goals.
At the heart of this role is the administration of Student Support Funds, helping learners navigate funding processes and ensuring they receive the financial support they are entitled to. You will work closely with students, colleagues and external agencies to provide an efficient, supportive and responsive service that contributes directly to student success and wellbeing
Key Responsibilities
As a Finance & Funding Assistant, you will play a key role in the administration of student funding and financial processes including:
Student Funding Support
- Supporting learners with Student Support Fund applications and online funding processes.
- Assessing eligibility and processing student funding applications in accordance with Scottish Funding Council and SAAS guidance.
- Monitoring learner attendance and engagement to facilitate funding payments.
- Ensuring students receive the maximum support available based on their individual circumstances.
- Providing advice and signposting students to appropriate support services including Advice and Guidance, Citizens Advice and the Department for Work and Pensions.
- Responding to enquiries from students, staff and external stakeholders.
- Providing professional advice and guidance on student funding and finance-related matters.
- Delivering a high-quality service in a busy and fast-paced environment.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Knowledge
You will have demonstrable knowledge of:
- Student funding or other public funding systems within education, welfare or support services
- Student Funding at FE and HE level (Desirable)
- Student Support Funds at FE and HE level (Desirable)
- Financial administration processes and procedures.
- Computerised financial management systems.
- Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- High levels of accuracy, numeracy and attention to detail.
- Strong ICT skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- A flexible and proactive approach to work.
- Experience of financial administration.
- Experience of working in a busy customer-facing environment.
- Experience supporting customers, learners or service users through complex processes.
