The Role
Responsibilities
As a Family Support Worker, you will report to the Assistant Team Manager and be responsible for delivering high-quality family support services. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Working directly with children and families to assess their needs and provide appropriate support
- Supervise and support family time between children and young people in care and their families.
- Implementing intervention strategies to promote positive outcomes for children
- Building trusting relationships with families, offering guidance and advice
- Collaborating with other professionals and agencies to ensure coordinated support
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation in line with organisational requirements
- Experience working in a family support role, ideally within a local authority setting
- Sound knowledge of child development and the factors affecting family functioning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and families
- Strong assessment and intervention skills, with the ability to identify and address individual needs
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and safeguarding procedures
