We are looking for a part time Family Advisor (21 hours a week) to work in our Bridport Family Hub alongside a multi disciplinary team. Your role will be multifaceted and will be a forward facing role. You will be supporting families, welcoming the community into the hub, taking bookings, generating new users to the hub, working alongside families to find the right support for them, giving advice and guidance to families who may need it.

The successful candidate will work alongside a talented family help team who are committed and passionate about the work they do to support children and their families in the West locality. The team also support other professionals too, giving advice and support across a broad spectrum of services.

The role is varied and interesting and there is potential to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of family work in its broadest sense.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Keep up to date with local services and sources of support for children, young people and families
  • Be the link person between the family information service and the localities
  • Use and develop other forms of online communication to publish local services and support
  • Share information about local services and support with locality colleagues
  • Undertake signposting activities
  • Provide information and advice on agreed topics to children, young people and families face to face, online and by telephone
  • Undertake outreach with community groups and other services to provide information and advice about sources of support in the community
  • Be a digital champion within localities, supporting the development of online engagement mechanisms with children, young people and families
  • Welcome families into the Family Hub in Bridport and engage families in what the Family Hub can offer in terms of support
  • Engage new partners to get involved in the Family Hub and provide new activities for the community

About You

  • You will have strong administrative and ICT skills as well as a good standard of verbal and written communication
  • You will be committed to supporting and improving outcomes for children and young people
  • You will demonstrate Respect, Openness Together, Accountability and Curiosity in line with Dorset Council's Employee Values
  • You will be an effective communicator and able to liaise with the public, other colleagues and professionals
  • You will be able to travel around the West locality and further afield when required
  • You will be flexible, approachable, adaptable and a team player
  • You will enjoy working with children, young people and adults
