Escalator engineer, Installation & Mods - #193669

KONE

Date: 7 hours ago
City: Keighley
Contract type: Full time
At KONE, we shape the future of cities. As a global leader in the lift and escalator industry, we provide innovative solutions across lifts, escalators, automatic doors, and maintenance and modernisation – adding value throughout a building’s entire lifecycle.

We’re currently looking for an Escalator Installation & Modernisation Improver to join our team.

What’s an Improver?

Someone with the right attitude, some hands-on or technical foundation, and the drive to learn – but who isn’t fully qualified yet.

Think of it as the stage between: Apprentice (learning basics) → Improver (building practical competence) → Qualified Engineer.

As an Escalator Improver, you’ll support experienced engineers in the installation and modernisation of escalator systems nationwide. This is a site-based role where you’ll work alongside skilled engineers to deliver safe, high-quality installations, learning KONE methods and industry best practice.

You’ll assist with installing escalator components, preparing materials, supporting mechanical and electrical works, and ensuring tools and equipment are maintained correctly. You’ll gain hands-on experience across a variety of escalator systems, helping to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You’ll also play a key role in maintaining a safe working environment and supporting effective communication on-site with colleagues, contractors, and customers.

This is a development-focused role where you’ll build strong technical skills, gain a solid understanding of safety standards, and work towards becoming a fully qualified Escalator Engineer.

The team is based in Keighley; however, you may be located anywhere in the UK, with occasional visits to Keighley required. You will also be required to work away from home on projects across the UK.

What we’re looking for:

  • Some experience within the escalator industry or a relevant mechanical/electrical engineering background
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Flexibility to travel and work away regularly

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary depending on experience
  • Company van and fuel card, plus parking apps for business use
  • Paid travel, overtime, and allowances when working away
  • 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays + 1 volunteering day

In addition, you’ll have access to a wide range of flexible benefits, including dental insurance, private medical cover, GymFlex membership, and exclusive KONE discounts - allowing you to tailor your package to suit your lifestyle.

Please note: this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

At KONE, we are focused on creating an innovative and collaborative working culture where we value the contribution of each individual. Employee engagement is a key focus area for us and we encourage participation and the sharing of information and ideas. Sustainability is an integral part of our culture and the daily practice. We follow ethical business practices and we seek to develop a culture of working together where co-workers trust and respect each other and good performance is recognized. In being a great place to work, we are proud to offer a range of experiences and opportunities that will help you to achieve your career and personal goals and enable you to live a healthy and balanced life.
