Job Overview
Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (MSEFT) provides services to the residents of Southend, Basildon, and Chelmsford. Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) provides community health, mental health and learning disability services to support more 3.2 million people living across Bedfordshire, Essex, and Suffolk.
The Nova Programme
EPUT and MSEFT are embarking on the implementation of a UK first of type Unified Electronic Patient Record (UEPR) system that spans Acute, Mental Health and Community services. The new system will be delivered through the Nova Programme, alongside our commercial partners for this significant transformative journey.
At the heart of our ambitious programme is a commitment to people – our patients, our staff and our community. We believe that the key to successful innovation lies in fostering a supportive, inclusive culture that values every individual’s contribution.
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Nova programme in the role of Advanced Clinical Pharmacist (ePMA Clinical Lead) at EPUT, to be part of our mission and successful delivery of the programme.

The role requires a competent professional with the clinical and leadership skills needed to act as the clinical lead for the development, planning and implementation of electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (ePMA).
You will provide professional leadership for the development of the clinical aspects of ePMA, ensuring that the clinical configuration meets user, commissioner and statutory requirement to delivery maximum benefit to the Trust. You will work collaboratively, as part of the Trust’s pharmacy senior management team, and with clinical and operational leaders outside the department in the implementation of EPMA.
You will support the Director of Pharmacy, Deputy Chief Pharmacists and Pharmacy Operational Business Manager in the delivery of the vision and priorities for EPMA and will provide expert advice about electronic prescribing and medicines administration to members of the pharmacy team, directorate, Trust and wider health economy.
You will maintain a portfolio of clinical activity on a sessional basis at a level commensurate with an advanced pharmacist to maintain a broad understanding of the context in which clinical IT systems are used, and to facilitate the release of other pharmacy staff to contribute to the implementation of EPMA. To work within clinical competence, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, to provide highly specialised advice in medicines optimisation across the interface.
OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB
To actively contribute to, and participate in, the development of EPMA within the Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, working closely with the ePMA Project Manager, System Manager, other project support staff and the system supplier.
