To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Environmental Specialist, located in Kendal OR Blackburn.

Reporting to the EHS Manager, the Environmental Specialist role will be part of an excellent SHEQ team with the responsibility of ensuring the business meets its environmental standards across our UK sites. You will implement and drive initiatives to minimize our environmental footprint whilst maintain compliance with environmental regulations.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Ensuring compliance to ISO 14001 and helping to implement ISO 50001 energy management system
  • Auditing against the ISO and internal management systems
  • Working with industry related sustainability bodies to achieve and continually improve our accreditations
  • Training of production-based teams on environment controls, measures and improvements
  • Monitoring our consumption of energy and the reduction of waste, water and effluent use
  • Running awareness and action campaigns, such as for World Earth Day
  • Championing colleagues to use their volunteering days for environmental action in our community and beyond
  • Working with world class clients to help them achieve their environmental goals
  • Working toward the Flex 2030 sustainability goals for the environment and community

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or similar
  • Relevant work experience in an Environmental role within a Manufacturing, Construction or Engineering business
  • Extensive knowledge of ISO 14001 and 50001 management systems
  • Ability to use initiative and work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to liaise with all levels within organization and proven track record of developing relationships
  • Must hold a UK driving licence and be prepared to travel between local sites
