Enhanced Maternity Support Workers (MCoC’s) will work proactively within a continuity team to support and offer women individualised additional care packages. This is to support health and equalities improved outcomes. Working in collaboration with all members of the team; enhanced MCoC’s assist in the planning and delivery, of health improvement, additional breastfeeding support, mental health and wellbeing, social prescribing. The successful applicant will need to work across communities, public sector, and private sector to provide additional support with health lifestyle choices. This will support in improving outcomes for women and babies.
Enhanced Maternity Support Workers are members of the team, working under the supervision and guidance of registered midwives and other professional staff.
Enhanced Maternity Support Worker must work within their sphere of responsibility. The MCoC will be supported and trained in the necessary skills to ensure that the activity can be undertaken competently.
The post holder will work with other professionals, charities and wider community groups who will come together to support and provide specific, recognisable care packages to women and prospective new parents to enable them to develop parenting skills pertinent to family needs and choice.
This is a non-clinical role which requires understanding of the needs of women and families who may experience health inequalities.
Participate in the delivery of specific care packages.
Contribute to the provision and raising awareness of public health issues i.e., smoking/passive smoking, breastfeeding and healthy lifestyle choices and improved wellbeing.
Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary and wider community team to ensure that the needs of mothers and babies are enhanced.
