Müller is looking for an Engineering Safety Coordinator to join our Skelmersdale site in a newly created position designed to strengthen safety leadership across our engineering function. This is an exciting opportunity to make a visible impact, working closely with engineering teams, contractors and site leadership to ensure the highest standards of health and safety are embedded throughout the business.

With significant engineering activity and contractor presence on site, you'll play a vital role in coordinating safe systems of work, improving compliance, leading safety initiatives and helping shape the future of engineering safety at Skelmersdale.

What You'll Be Doing

As Engineering Safety Coordinator, you'll be the focal point for engineering safety activities across site, ensuring robust processes, strong contractor management and continuous improvement in safety performance.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Issuing, managing and monitoring Permit to Work systems
  • Coordinating contractor control, supervision and performance management
  • Conducting regular safety tours, inspections and audits
  • Leading safety improvement projects and site-wide initiatives
  • Chairing and coordinating engineering safety meetings and Pulse meetings
  • Supporting the implementation and ongoing management of the Safety Steering Group
  • Leading accident and incident investigations, including root cause analysis
  • Ensuring compliance with all site safety standards, policies and procedures
  • Supporting Risk Assessments and Method Statement (RAMS) reviews
  • Driving behavioural safety programmes and employee engagement initiatives
  • Coordinating and delivering safety training where required
  • Monitoring, analysing and reporting safety KPIs and trends
  • Managing confined space equipment and associated safety processes
  • Delivering Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) training to engineering teams

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a proactive and influential safety professional who can build strong relationships across the site and confidently challenge unsafe behaviours when required.

You'll Ideally Have

  • Experience within an engineering, manufacturing, food manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe systems of work
  • Experience managing contractors and Permit to Work systems
  • Investigation and root cause analysis experience
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to drive engagement and improve safety culture
  • Experience delivering training, coaching or safety briefings
  • A hands-on approach with a passion for continuous improvement
