ELSA - Emotional Literacy Support Assistant About The Role
As an ELSA, you will work closely with students to support their emotional development and provide one-to-one or small group interventions for children experiencing emotional, social, or behavioural challenges. You will help students build their self-esteem, manage emotions, and improve their social skills, contributing to a positive and nurturing learning environment in Woking.
ELSA - Emotional Literacy Support Assistant Key Responsibilities
- Provide emotional and social support to individual students or small groups
- Deliver tailored ELSA interventions to enhance emotional well-being and resilience
- Work collaboratively with class teachers and SENCO to track and assess student progress
- Support students with developing key skills in emotional regulation, communication, and social interaction
- Liaise with parents, carers, and outside agencies to ensure the best possible support for students
- Experience working with children in a school setting (ideally as an ELSA or in a similar role)
- Strong understanding of child development and emotional literacy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to supporting students' well-being
- ELSA training (or willingness to complete it) is desirable but not essential
- A supportive and welcoming school environment
