Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostic testing and fault-finding on electronic circuit boards, modules, and complete protection relay systems.
- Conduct component-level repairs, including precise soldering, desoldering, and replacement of various electronic components.
- Interpret and utilize complex schematics, technical drawings, and other engineering documentation to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Execute modifications and upgrades to existing products as part of aftersales support and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Document all repair activities, test results, and quality checks accurately and meticulously.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to analyze recurring faults, identify root causes, and contribute to design improvements.
- Operate and maintain a range of specialized test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, functional testers).
- Adhere strictly to all quality, safety, and environmental procedures and regulations.
- Engage in ongoing learning and development to stay current with product technologies and repair methodologies.
- Approximately once every few years, you may be required to travel internationally to other grid automation facilities for knowledge exchange and training on new products and processes, for periods typically up to two weeks.
- A technical qualification (e.g., HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent apprenticeship) in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in electronic repair, diagnostics, and component-level troubleshooting.
- Proven ability to operate standard electronic test and measurement equipment.
- A keen problem-solving mindset, with a natural curiosity to understand "why" things work (or don't) and a willingness to perform trial & error to find solutions.
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail, particularly with intricate electronic components.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong commitment to quality workmanship and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electronic schematics, circuit diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Prior experience with protection and control systems, grid automation products, or similar industrial electronics.
- Familiarity with GE Vernova protection relays or similar products from other manufacturers.
- Experience in an aftersales service or repair environment.
- Knowledge of quality management systems or lean principles.
