Base Location: Swindon, Melksham, Andover, Slough, Oxford, Portsmouth, Petersfield, Aldershot, IOW, Basingstoke, New Forest, Poole, West London, Reading or Theale

Salary: £61,620 - £72,592 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

We're looking for a Design Engineer to help create safe, efficient substation designs (up to 132kV).

Our projects involve the replacement of existing electrical assets on our electricity distribution network from 11 - 132kV. You'll be involved in project planning, stakeholder coordination, and ensuring CDM compliance.

You Will

• Develop detailed, buildable project designs that comply with SSEN standards and specifications.
• Produce, verify, and approve design calculations to ensure cost-effective, compliant solutions.
• Engage with stakeholders during design development and specify primary plant items with an understanding of their interaction.
• Provide technical support across the team, including temporary works and site-specific detailed designs.
• Coordinate pre-construction activities, prepare tender documentation, track design progress, and ensure CDM 2015 compliance and financial governance.
  
  

You Have

• Excellent knowledge and understanding of power system substation design and operation up to 132kV.
• A qualification (minimum of HNC level) in a relevant discipline or have demonstrable experience in a similar role.
• Experience of working under engineering design governance structures and experience of preparing tender documentation.
• You are a Principal Designer and have an excellent understanding of the Principal Designer Role in accordance with the CDM Regulations.
• A full current driving licence.
