Applications are invited from graduates with an Applied Biomedical Science (Hons) degree, or a Biomedical Sciences (Hons) degree which is accredited by the IBMS as suitable for training purposes, or equivalent.

Newly graduated candidates, if successful, will be placed on Band 5 and required to complete their Specialist Portfolio prior to progression to Specialist Biomedical Scientist Band 6.

Our modern, progressive and well equipped laboratory is the main provider of services to NHS Grampian. The department serves a population of ~600,000 people and carries out in excess of 8 million tests per annum.

Successful candidates will be expected to participate in the out of hours rota once trained and competent to do so.

The Department is approved by IBMS/HCPC as a training laboratory and is UKAS accredited. Participation in CPD activities is actively encouraged and funding for further postgraduate study is available.
