Education and SEND Programme Lead - Volunteer - #196288

Educere Development Agency

Date: 12 hours ago
City: Middlesbrough
Contract type: Full time
Help Educere design inclusive education and SEND programmes, practical learning resources and accessible LMS content for educators, parents, volunteers and communities as we launch our first UK activities.

What difference will you make?

This role will help Educere turn its inclusive-education and SEND objectives into practical, accessible and high-quality UK programmes.

The volunteer’s expertise will ensure that our workshops, training materials and Learning Management System content are accurate, relevant and appropriate for educators, parents, carers, volunteers and community organisations.

By developing clear learning outcomes, session plans, facilitator resources and quality-assurance processes, the volunteer will give Educere a strong foundation for delivering its first UK inclusive-learning pilot.

Their work will help us promote greater understanding of SEND and learning differences, encourage inclusive teaching practices, reduce stigma and improve awareness of assistive technology and accessible learning methods.

The role will also help Educere maintain appropriate professional boundaries by ensuring that educational awareness is clearly distinguished from clinical assessment, diagnosis or regulated professional advice.

Ultimately, the volunteer will help Educere provide more meaningful learning opportunities, strengthen the confidence of educators and families, support people with additional needs and advance our mission of improving education, wellbeing and inclusion while reducing inequalities.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced, thoughtful and practical education professional who is passionate about inclusive learning and improving support for people with SEND.

The most important requirement is at least three years’ relevant professional experience in education, SEND, teaching, learning support, programme development, disability inclusion, educational psychology, youth work or a closely related field.

The ideal volunteer will have

  • Strong knowledge of inclusive education and additional learning needs.
  • Experience designing or delivering educational programmes, workshops or training.
  • Ability to develop clear learning outcomes, session plans and accessible learning materials.
  • Understanding of SEND, learning differences and appropriate inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex subjects in clear, practical and respectful language.
  • Experience reviewing educational content for accuracy, accessibility and quality.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries and appropriate referral.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with educators, parents, carers, volunteers and community organisations.
  • Good organisation, reliability and the ability to meet agreed deadlines.

It would be particularly valuable if the volunteer has experience as a SENCO, teacher, specialist educator, learning-support professional, SEND adviser or trainer.

Experience with assistive technology, online learning, facilitator development, programme evaluation or Learning Management Systems would also be beneficial.

The successful volunteer should be patient, inclusive, strengths-based, open to feedback and committed to involving people with lived experience.

Applicants must be based in the United Kingdom and understand the UK education and SEND environment.

What will you be doing?

The Education and SEND Programme Lead will help Educere Development Agency UK CIC design and develop our first inclusive education and SEND programmes in the UK.

Working closely with the Director, Safeguarding and Inclusion Lead, Partnerships and Community Engagement Lead, and other volunteers, the role will

  • Help identify priority learning needs through consultation with educators, parents, carers and community organisations.
  • Design practical workshops, awareness sessions and training activities.
  • Define clear programme aims, learning outcomes and intended audiences.
  • Develop session plans, facilitator guidance and participant resources.
  • Review educational content for accuracy, accessibility and inclusive language.
  • Support learning on SEND, learning differences, inclusive teaching and assistive technology.
  • Ensure programmes use strengths-based, person-centred and non-stigmatising approaches.
  • Help distinguish educational awareness from diagnosis, clinical assessment or regulated professional advice.
  • Identify and brief suitable speakers, trainers and facilitators.
  • Support volunteers involved in programme delivery.
  • Review and develop accessible content for Educere’s Learning Management System.
  • Help establish a simple quality-assurance process for courses and learning materials.
  • Develop participant feedback and evaluation tools.
  • Review pilot outcomes and recommend improvements for future programmes.

Key initial deliverables will include a needs-informed programme outline, learning outcomes, session plans, facilitator resources, accessible LMS content and an evaluation framework for Educere’s first UK inclusive-learning pilot.

This role forms part of Educere’s founding UK volunteer team.
