Job Summary
The job is based at Navy Command HQ, Whale Island, Portsmouth, a site of national and strategic military importance. The Navy StratPlans HdPlans is a challenging and rewarding role that provides, Leadership to the Plans Team, focal point for Navy Command for the development of strategic plans, liaison across the Navy, the MoD and other Government departments. The Assistant Chief of Naval Staff organisation leads the development of RN strategy, through a strategic balance of investment process, manages RN engagement with Ministers, the Ministry of Defence, Parliament, the other Front-Line Commands, allied Navies, Other Government Departments, the Maritime Enterprise, academia and think tanks and the general public, developing and coordinating corresponding Navy policy.
The Deputy Directory Navy Strategic Planning leads the development of the Royal Navy Strategy, managing the strategic choices required to enable Navy Command to deliver the Navy programme, delivery of the Command Plan and strategic analysis of the Command's Data to support Navy Executive Committee and First Sea Lord.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job Description
This post leads the Navy’s Strategic Planning Team within the Directorate of Strategy and Policy. The post works directly to Deputy Director Strategic Plans and will work in an agile way to bring people, processes, connectivity, together to maximise effect. Working closely with teams across the wider Navy Command Directorates and Portfolio Office. Key deliverables are:
The post holder will be expected to be excellent at building and maintaining strong relationships within the Navy, across the MOD and wider Whitehall, including with organisations such as DSTL and GORS to support delivery of their objectives. This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-starting individual, who is a confident leader and able to work as part of a hybrid team spread across various locations.
