Overview

As a Data Engineer, you'll work with our state-of-the-art customer database and marketing technology infrastructure. Data is at the heart of our business, and we are fortunate to have a wealth of information for our extensive customer database. You'll be designing, implementing, and maintaining our data infrastructure and pipelines, playing a crucial role in enabling data-driven analytics and customer marketing. You'll work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, implement data models, and ensure data accuracy and integrity. Reporting to the Senior CRM & Data Operations Manager, you'll be part of a successful and experienced data engineering team. This role requires a strong data engineering, analytics, and customer marketing background.

We believe that a hybrid, flexible working approach offers you – and your colleagues – the best of both worlds. Face-to-face collaboration is an integral part of our warm, friendly culture, so you’ll work from our head office three days a week, working flexibly around our core working hours of 10am-3pm. Beyond that, how, when and where you work is up to you. With a subsidised canteen, free parking and a comfortable, relaxed environment, we’ve worked hard to build an office you’ll want to work in. We also know that, when it comes to school pick-ups and home deliveries, it’s nice to have the flexibility to do both.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and Build Data Pipelines: Create and maintain batch, streaming and integration pipelines.
  • Data Management: Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.

  • Collaboration: Work with stakeholders including data scientists, analysts, and other team members to support their data infrastructure needs.
  • Data Quality: Ensure data is clean, reliable and readily available for analysis and reporting.
  • Maintain data in line with GDPR obligations – housekeeping and deletion of data in line with data retention policy, reporting on user consumption.
  • Create and maintain documentation to enable data governance.
  • Management of customer golden record via data entity matching and development of the single customer view models.
  • Build analytical data models with consideration for performance, usability and scalability.
  • Build and maintain APIs and micro-services utilising best practice to ensure security and performance.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years hands-on experience with big data tools and frameworks.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL with knowledge of Python and other programming languages used in the processing of structured and unstructured data.
