Community Hub team manager: Our community teams have a very varied role and support a wide range of adults from 18 plus, with a variety of needs. Covering Daventry, Towcester and Brackley.

Adult services encompasses a wide range of teams and employment opportunities. This includes; Community Teams which also provide the front door to Adult Services, Learning Disability Team, Hospital Social Care Team, Review team and Moving into Adulthood roles.

West Northants Council Adult Social Care has been on an exciting journey of transformation since we became a unitary authority in April 2021. This has given us the opportunity to really look at how we provide adult social care on a more localised level, leading to lots of exciting innovations and a new model of working which puts people and their communities firmly at the heart of what we do.

What will you be doing?

As a Team Manager you will responsible for managing, monitoring and co-ordinating the work of a team within a specified geographical area and/or service area in order to ensure an efficient delivery of service to Adults, providing high level oversight on cases particularly those that are high profile and hold complexities and risks.

Whilst managing and monitoring the service provision budgets and other resources ensuring that expenditure occurs within financial regulations and does not exceed budget.

Ensuring that performance targets are planned for and met and workload planning is effective. This role includes developing good relationships with partner agencies and supporting in developing robust systems and procedures.

You’ll make sure they feel listened to and encourage practice that supports them to identify their assets and strengths – enabling them to fulfil aspirations, build resilience and improve outcomes.

About You

We seek you to have demonstrable experience in leading and managing an Assessment and Social Work team. This includes responsibility for recruitment and retention, induction, training and development, performance management, disciplinary and capability processes, and succession planning. A proven ability to build and sustain a strong, cohesive, and high-performing team is essential.

The role involves managing the allocation of workloads across the team, ensuring high-quality delivery, meeting performance targets, and driving continuous service improvement. Confidence in monitoring, analysing, and managing delegated budgets, funding, and resources in line with council policies and procedures—or influencing broader service budgets indirectly—is required.

Extensive knowledge of practice, theory, and legislation should be applied to enhance standards, shape procedures and policies, promote innovation, and embed new ways of working. This may include adopting insights from recognised sites of excellence and navigating complex or challenging circumstances, including those that require positive risk-taking.

A solid understanding of local communities and the wider political context is key. Effective leadership in partnership working—both internally and with external stakeholders—is vital, along with a commitment to involving people who access support in the ongoing development of the service.

  • Level 5 leadership/management qualification or willingness to work towards it
  • Educated to a degree level in health and social care or related field or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
