This role requires you to be on site at our Bristol Aztec West office 3 days a week, 1 day a week on site and 1 day a week working from home.

The Opportunity

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

This is your chance to be part of a pioneering team leading the UK’s nuclear renaissance. You’ll join the Commissioning Chemistry Team, supporting the delivery of chemistry commissioning activities and helping to set the standard for future projects. Reporting to the Commissioning Chemistry Lead, you’ll play a key role in shaping the team’s growth and success over the coming years.

You don’t need to be a chemistry expert, just someone with a solid engineering foundation and an understanding of Chemistry, a willingness to learn, and the ability to apply technical thinking to complex challenges. The salary range associated with this role is circa £65,000 DOE, we’re also open to considering less experienced candidates, with the salary reflecting the level of skills and experience you bring to the role. What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be instrumental in commissioning key systems such as the Effluent Treatment Plant and Demin Water Plant, providing hands-on support and expert advice to ensure successful delivery. Your work will directly influence the performance and safety of these systems, making a tangible impact on the project’s success.

You’ll also contribute to a range of workstreams, from integrating chemistry into wider commissioning processes to advising on chemical safety and system performance. Your role will involve working closely with other engineering teams, interpreting technical documentation, and helping to resolve design or operational challenges as they arise. You’ll draw on lessons from other EPR projects, advocate for chemistry excellence, and collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders including regulators.

This role offers variety and flexibility, with workstreams tailored to your strengths and development goals. From managing chemical safety and system ownership to troubleshooting and stakeholder engagement, you’ll be at the centre of a dynamic and growing team.

Who You Are

You’re degree-qualified (or equivalent) in a STEM discipline and bring experience working in safety-conscious, quality-driven environments. You’re technically minded, comfortable interpreting data, and confident making decisions that support operational success.

You don’t need to be a chemistry specialist, but you should have a basic understanding of chemical principles and a willingness to learn more. Experience in commissioning, plant operations, or working on large-scale infrastructure projects would be a bonus, as would familiarity with nuclear systems or regulatory environments. Familiarity with preservation chemistry and the systems that support chemical safety is a plus. You may also have experience working within project organisations and engaging with regulators.

Additionally, you must meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which generally requires you to have been a UK resident for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
