An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Clinical Support Worker within the Emergency department
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is keen to take on a nursing support role within a busy and fast paced unit.
You will be expected to perform clinical skills and aid assessment of patients attending the emergency department. Skills such as observations, ECG's, bloods and cannulation will be completed daily with additional clinical skills such as blood cultures, urinary analysis, capillary blood gas collection, and the collection of blood products will be expected after full training.
You will have the opportunity to develop your clinical skills and receive structured appraisal, support, mentorship and training.
As a Clinical Support Worker You Will
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.

As a Clinical Support Worker You Will
- Work in support of and under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), providing nursing care and assistance to patients within defined parameters specified by the Registered Nurse.
- Perform clinical skills ie. venepuncture, ECG and cannulation
- Record patient information.
- Provide basic patient care and document that care in the patient records.
- Work effectively with the multidisciplinary team in order to achieve desired outcomes that promote the well being of patients.
- Assist the RN’s in the delivery of care to a designated patient group, demonstrating an ability to prioritise such care.
- Assist in the implementation of direct clinical care.
- Determine the comfort of patients by talking and listening to them and building up a rapport.
