The Children and Young People's Gender Service (North West) is part of a specialist national service providing holistic care to children and young people who are requesting support with their gender identity.
Responsibilities
The post holder will provide clinical leadership and be responsible for the day to day management, delivery and development of the Specialist Children and Young People's Gender Service nursing service, in particular:
The post holder will hold a key role within the Multidisciplinary Team to develop practice and services.

Responsibilities
The post holder will provide clinical leadership and be responsible for the day to day management, delivery and development of the Specialist Children and Young People's Gender Service nursing service, in particular:
- Provision of an expert and high quality nursing service to children, young people and families requesting support with gender identity in the acute and community setting; providing structured education and support.
- Leading on service improvement through monitoring and improving standards of care through supervision of practice, clinical audit and evidenced based practice.
The post holder will hold a key role within the Multidisciplinary Team to develop practice and services.
- Support the development of the Children and Young People's Gender Service
- Develop the team to meet pertinent professional and national standards, including those concerned with workforce development and planning.
- To be an effective resource and expert in child development, actively disseminating relevant information to both medical and nursing staff members within the multidisciplinary team and to other health professionals.
- Act as a role model of standards of behaviour and professionalism, through the development of the service and the integration of policies and procedures to ensure a high quality, cost effective service to children, young people and their families/carers.
- Work in partnership with other regional hubs and contribute to national policy and approaches.
- Keep up to date with national policies and identify deficits in service provision to implement and evaluate changes which can improve service delivery
- Contribute to the development of standards, protocols, and guidelines for the service ensuring that safe practice is maintained.
- Liaise with the paediatric endocrinology service in Leeds.
- Act as an advocate for patients, carers, the service and organisation.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Lead and manage team performance
- Ensure safe practice through risk assessment and management of clinical incidents.
