Sheffield City Council

Date: 2 weeks ago
City: Sheffield
Salary: £35,745 - £39,186 per year
Contract type: Full time
Job description

We are recruiting newly qualified (or due to graduate) and experienced qualified and SWE registered social workers to join us here in Sheffield’s children’s services. We have an exceptional ASYE offer in addition to a specific newly qualified social work training pathway.

Our ASYE offer includes one to one support from a social work consultant, support from a line manager, study days, networking sessions, master classes provided by social work experts and a phased protected low caseload during the 12 month ASYE programme.

If you haven’t completed your ASYE yet and are wishing to relocate then that isn’t a problem as we will pick up where you left off. Already passed your ASYE but looking for another job? No problem - we will support you so that you can progress to being a senior social worker through our fast track career pathway.

Overseas applicants must have significant post qualification experience and be registered with Social Work England in order to be sponsored.

We welcome applications from those who left the children and families social work profession some time ago. If you would like to return to social work, we will help you to regain your SWE registration through a bespoke support package.

We have stable management teams with no agency managers and can offer you continuous support, guidance and reflective supervision allowing you to grow and develop through your career. If you are successful at interview, a post will be offered to you based on your preference, experience and the needs of the service.

Sheffield is a great, diverse city located on the outskirts of the Peak District – with a wide range of cultural, social & outdoor activities, good schools, excellent transport links and affordable housing.

Employees can access our Electric Car Benefit scheme, cycle scheme, discounted bus and tram tickets, help towards the cost of childcare and cost of living help amongst a number of other pay and reward benefits.

Our September 2023 Ofsted inspection rated our children’s services as “Good” with an “Outstanding” rating for children in care:

“Stability in the workforce means that most children and their families develop trusting relationships with a consistent social worker, who they know they can rely on. This helps parents to understand professionals’ concerns. Frequent and sensitive direct work is carried out with children and families which helps to address concerns and improves many children’s circumstances.

Direct work with disabled children is thoughtfully tailored to their unique communication profiles. Disabled children with significant mental health difficulties receive skilled help from experienced advanced social workers in a dedicated specialist mental health team.

Social workers act quickly when they become aware of allegations of significant harm against a child. Well-attended strategy meetings and effective information-sharing result in rigorous safety-planning. So Social workers’ visits to children are prompt and consistent with the level of presenting issues. Strong engagement with children, families and partner agencies leads to a good understanding of children’s needs and unique characteristics.cial workers see children promptly.

Children in care receive an outstanding service that results in their life experiences significantly improving. 22. Children only come into care when it is necessary and appropriate for them to do so. Specialist edge-of-care workers provide a high level of help and support to children who are at risk of coming into care. As a result, many children have been able to remain safely living at home”.
