We are looking for an enthusiastic, practical and can-do individual to join our dedicated school community as our Caretaker.
Salary: In accordance with APT&C scales, Dorset Grade SCP 6 - £13.47 per hour, gross annual salary of £25,989 (pending NJC 3.3%), to SCP 9 - £14.13 per hour, gross annual salary of £27,254 (pending NJC 3.3%). The appointed salary point will be dependent upon experience.
At Montacute School, we are a vibrant and inspiring all-age special school for children and young people aged 2-19 with CLDD (Complex Learning Difficulties and Disabilities). Every day is different, rewarding and full of opportunities to make a genuine difference to the lives of our fabulous young people.
This is far more than a traditional caretaking role. We are looking for someone who will take pride in our school environment, enjoy being part of a supportive team and help create a safe, welcoming and positive space where our pupils can thrive.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the general maintenance, presentation and security of the school site and swimming pool, ensuring the environment remains safe, secure and fit for purpose at all times in accordance with health and safety requirements.

We Are Looking For Someone Who
- Takes pride in maintaining a safe, welcoming and well-presented environment
- Experience within site management, premises security and/or a school environment is desirable, although training and support will be provided for the right candidate who is willing to learn
- Demonstrates strong organisational skills and a proactive approach
- Has knowledge of health and safety procedures, with a NEBOSH or IOSH qualification, or willingness to undertake training
- Is friendly, self-motivated and able to work well as part of a team
- Has good IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and email
- Has experience of pool plant management and ideally holds a current qualification, or is willing to undertake training
- Brings imagination and creativity to continue improving our site and the experiences of our young people in and around the school
- Enjoys working within a lively school environment and interacting positively with children and young people
