Job Overview

We have an opportunity to expand our provision of cardiology services and are now looking to recruit a full time enthusiastic cardiac physiologists who will have the opportunity to shape the delivery of cardiology diagnostics and investigations in Wrexham as part of the largest NHS organisation in Wales.

To be successful in this post you should be competent practitioners with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have experience of a wide range of cardiac diagnostics.

This post is pivotal in the future development of this busy department and you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team in delivering a wide range of cardiac diagnostics in addition to your speciality in meeting the needs of complex patients.

Appointments will be made according to level of experience and your continuing professional development.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

To be technically proficient as an independent practitioner in cardiology procedures, this includes:

  • Application of 12 lead electrocardiography
  • Application of various ambulatory ECG recording equipment
  • Application of ambulatory blood pressure monitors
  • Application of various ambulatory ECG recording equipment
  • Analysis of the 12 lead ECG
  • Analysis of ambulatory ECG recordings producing a factual report, which may impact on the clinical management of the patient.
  • Exercise Stress Testing – Ability to obtain an accurate recording of the cardiac electrocardiogram and work alongside doctors or cardiac physiologist. Good communication is required with the patient to ensure they fully understand the test.
  • Training in permanent pacemaker implantation and follow-up – Recording accurate lead function tests to guide a secure implantation of cardiac pacing leads. To record and document results, inform appropriate physician of any faults/problems. Support for patient throughout procedure.
  • Analysis of loop recorder findings.
