Job Title: Business Development Manager (Commercial Lending)

Location: West Yorkshire (with travel to the office once a week)

Salary: Up to £55k per year (negotiable)

Job Type: 18-month fixed-term contract, with potential for extension

Vargo is recruiting an experienced Business Development Manager with a background in Business Banking, Commercial Banking, or SME Lending to join a specialist debt fund focused on supporting innovative and high-growth SMEs across Yorkshire.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, assess, and deliver suitable lending opportunities in accordance with the fund’s lending criteria.
• Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of SME prospects by leveraging your existing network of professional introducers.
• Conduct thorough due diligence and analysis on funding proposals, ensuring compliance with internal lending policies and operational standards.
• Draft and present credit proposals to an independent credit committee for approval.
• Oversee the loan completion process, coordinating with solicitors to finalise legal documentation and satisfy all security requirements.
• Proactively manage a portfolio of clients, monitoring business performance and addressing potential risks at an early stage.
• Contribute to regular fund performance reporting and stakeholder updates as required.
  
  

Requirements

• Proven experience in commercial lending.
• A well-developed network of introducers and contacts in the West Yorkshire area.
• Strong ability to assess lending propositions based on forward-looking cash flows and business plans.
