About the role
The Associate General Counsel will provide legal support for the affiliates of our in EMEA in the areas of antitrust, data privacy, export control, business transactions, distribution, employment law and all other day to day legal topics. You will collaborate with the relevant business to ensure the implementation of the EMEA legal strategy polices, ensuring strong governance and the minimization of risks.
The position could be located at our site Monomer House in Stockton-on-Tees or any other location in the UK.
Your responsibilities
- Serving as a proactive advisor on legal matters, including regulatory compliance, international trade, bribery and corruption, privacy, competition laws and ethics, intellectual property issues.
- Evaluating pre-litigation issues to minimize risks; overseeing litigation; advising management on strategy.
- Drafting, structuring and reviewing commercial agreements.
- Playing a key role in the review and negotiation of corporate transactions including acquisitions and strategic transactions.
- Working closely with counterparts globally and other functions including Internal Audit, Human Resources, Intellectual Property and Information Technology.
- Instilling confidence and fostering an atmosphere of trust and respect among the affiliates
Your skills and experience
- Qualified lawyer or equivalent
- Commercial contract review (non-disclosure agreements, supply contracts, logistic agreements, rebate agreements, etc.) and negotiation with internal and external counterparties.
- Skills in providing trainings to the business on legal matters and related content.
- Compliance understanding and exposure to commercial matters that require compliance knowledge (e.g. antitrust, export control).
- Knowledge and experience in transactions (M&A), Intellectual Property Rights, and/or the evaluation of pre-litigation issues are advantageous
- Multi-national diversified company exposure is beneficial
- Fluent English skills are required (any other language is beneficial)
