What it's like to work here:Cliveden is a very busy and popular estate of around 360 acres, attracting some 560,000 visitors each year. Key areas in the garden include the Parterre, the Long Garden, the Water Garden, the Rose Garden, the Nursery, and the Forecourt Borders. We are a friendly and welcoming estate, with the Gardens Team working closely with our colleagues in Visitor Experience, Maintenance, the Ranger Team and Commercial Operations, amongst others.

Our Gardens Team includes 11 team members as well as nearly 90 garden volunteers and, in this role, you’ll report to the Assistant Head Gardener. There are limited public transport links close to Cliveden so it will be an advantage if you are able to drive or get a lift to work.

What you'll be doing:Daily responsibilities will likely include assisting with the planting and maintenance of shrubs and borders, mulching, hedge cutting and lawn mowing. You’ll work alongside gardeners and a team of volunteers. You’ll talk to the public every day, answering a variety of garden-related questions and talking about what you are doing with pride. We’re looking for someone with a practical approach to work, getting the day-to-day work done and an interest in plants. The role can sometimes be physically challenging, and we use a wide range of machinery and equipment to help us get our work done. The use of machinery such as hedge trimmers, leaf blowers and pedestrian mowers is essential, but training will be provided.
