You’ll take up this role as an Asset Strategy Lead to help shape the long-term whole life approach for managing South East Water’s water assets.
This key role sits within our Asset Policy and Strategy Team and plays an important part in our Asset Management function. You’ll work with teams across the business to define, communicate, and implement strategies that ensure our water assets are managed effectively and sustainably.
In the water industry, infrastructure assets such as pipelines, pumping stations, reservoirs, and treatment plants are essential. Managing them well means we minimise disruption, reduce costs, and stay compliant with regulations all whilst providing a reliable service for our customers.
As Asset Strategy Lead, you’ll help to set the priorities and approach to ensure our assets are well-maintained, efficient, and ready for the future. You will lead the development, maintenance, and communication of long-term strategies that align with our corporate objectives while continuously improving our asset management systems and governance.
This role requires significant cross-departmental engagement to ensure asset management objectives are understood and achievable across the business.

Compensation package:
£43,000 - £58,000 DOE

Main responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the Asset Management Policy and Asset Management Strategic Plan, ensuring alignment with wider strategic documents such as the Strategic Direction Statement, Water Resources Management Plan, 25-Year Environment Plan, and Climate Change Adaptation plans.
- Lead the production of supporting strategies to enable the delivery of the Asset Management Strategy, including: Regional Asset Management strategies, Asset Class Strategies, Innovation Strategy and Maintenance Strategy.
- Develop and oversee the asset management system and governance model, including the processes, tools, and capabilities needed to deliver asset management objectives.
- Conduct asset management maturity reviews and lead the development of the Asset Management improvement plan.
- Oversee and develop the asset management department resources and capabilities plan.
- Act as custodian of the Asset Management technical standards, ensuring they are up to date and effectively communicated and used across the business.
- Provide technical leadership to the Asset Strategy Analyst and other key stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively across departments to ensure business-critical information is effectively communicated and adopted.
- Support the development of departmental strategies, including asset management plans and scheme feasibility studies.
Skills / Qualifications / Experience
- Institute of Asset Management Certificate or Diploma.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in the water industry, utilities or similar asset intensive or infrastructure business.
- Strong data analysis skills and ability to produce accurate reports and strategies.
- Experience presenting complex information to executive and senior management teams.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills across all levels of an organisation.
- Proven ability to develop and implement long-term planning strategies.
- Strong teamwork and stakeholder management skills.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple strategic projects.

- Experience writing strategies and long-term planning documents.
- Knowledge of water industry regulations and asset management best practices.
- Willingness to embrace change and continuously improve processes.
