Description of what the apprentice will do in their role:
We are looking for a motivated Centre of Excellence Apprentice to join our team and train in textile and resilient flooring installation. This apprenticeship will provide hands-on experience and expert training in laying a variety of flooring materials, including carpets, vinyl, linoleum, and rubber flooring.
As an Apprentice, you will learn the specialist skills involved in preparing, fitting, and finishing a wide range of flooring materials including:
What we Offer:
During your Standard Level 2 Floor Layer apprenticeship programme you will receive training both off and on the job. You will be trained at the employer within the workplace and also at F-Ball's Centre of Excellence, in Stoke-On-Trent on a block basis for a week at a time every 10 weeks, costs are covered by the employer.
You will learn the underpinning knowledge that runs alongside your practical elements of the training. WEBS Training aim to build on the skills you already have so you reach your full potential both personally and professionally.
Training will be provided in all areas of floor laying to ensure you can create practical and bespoke installations using both traditional and modern techniques and materials to produce aesthetically pleasing and fit for purpose installations.
If you have already achieved GCSE maths and English at Grade 4/C or above or have equivalent qualification you will be exempt from undertaking Functional Skills, however English and maths support will be provided for all apprentices throughout the length of their programme.

- Resilient flooring: including vinyl sheets, tiles, and slip-resistant coverings
- Assisting set up/preparation of training programmes

- Assist the training team in the preparation and delivery of floor adhesive courses at the Centre of Excellence.
- Assist with preparing subfloors to include cleaning, damp-proofing, cleaning, material selection, levelling and smoothing, and applying adhesives and floorcoverings.
- Learn techniques to accurately measure, cut, and fit flooring materials such as carpets, vinyl, and rubber.
- Install underlays, trims, and finishes to achieve a high-quality result.
- Learn how to accurately seam, stretch and edge finishing.
- Work safely with hand/ power tools and cutting equipment.
- Follow site safety regulations and maintain a clean workspace.
- Develop knowledge of different flooring materials and their applications.
- Work as part of a team and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Attend college/ training sessions as required to complete your apprenticeship standard.
