The role
We’re now looking for a motivated Account Handler with a New Business focus, based from our Tunbridge Wells office to join us here at Darwin Clayton- part of the Jensten Group. Darwin Clayton is a specialist, multi-award-winning insurance broker, specialising in arranging tailored insurance solutions for a wide range of contractors, including cleaning contractors, facilities management companies, and electrical contractors.
Reporting into the Commercial Manager, the main purpose of the role is to deliver customer service excellence to our commercial clients, handling new business with the aim to maximise opportunities and up-sell, following up on leads/ referrals, renewals and mid-term adjustments for their commercial insurance risks. Some key objectives & responsibilities will include:
- Providing customer service excellence to existing clients and new clients
- Handling renewals, mid-term adjustments, claims notifications, collecting of premiums and all other client queries
- Maximising cross-selling and up-selling opportunities
- Ensuring compliance with local procedures, customer service standards and external compliance regulations, e.g. FCA & Consumer Duty
- Assisting in team performance by regular communication with colleagues and manager to establish and raise concerns and provide solutions
About You

- Insurance background (Commercial ideally)
- Experience as an Account Handler handling new business, with a progressive background (ideally)
- Drive and genuine passion to learn and develop within Insurance
- Good attention to detail and can multi-task, updating relevant systems and admin
- Excellent telephone manner, being able to network & build working relationships easily
- Ability to work without supervision and prioritise/ organise own workload
- Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
- Cert CII qualified or working towards (ideally)
- Acturis systems knowledge & experience (ideally)
