Job Summary

As Account Director, you will work closely with the wider account handling and creative teams leading a variety of projects ranging from research/insights gathering to tactical delivery of creative and promotional campaigns. You will be a key part of the team in ensuring that creative outputs are of the highest quality and delivered on time and on budget, whilst proactively working towards becoming a trusted partner to clients.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Full ownership of the communications programme for each client, ranging from strategic input to day-to-day management of tactics (based on the specific needs for each account)
  • Ensure optimal financial management of each account and demonstrate a clear understanding of all financial processes within the business. Manage financial issues promptly
  • Monitor forecast and plans in conjunction with Account Managers and Account Executives to ensure business objectives are met, on time and within budget. Ensure the AVP/ Divisional lead are kept up to date with all relevant information
  • Thorough understanding of the clients’ business objectives, product strategy and relevant therapeutic area. Clear communication of this to all internal team members, as relevant
  • In depth understanding of the relevant ABPI and NICE policies in the UK and equivalent across Europe and processes that impact upon OPEN Health
  • Manage and influence senior-level client contacts and maintain positive working relationships, as well as working proactively to identify new business opportunities by networking and researching within existing client companies
  • Highlight key issues to the regarding key accounts and the account team, as appropriate
  • Lead pitches
  • Ensure understanding and implementation of all OPEN Health Advertising internal procedures and quality standards across all account team members
  • Ensure all account team members take ownership of their business and appropriate levels of responsibility
  • Support the development and training of Account Executives, Account Managers and Senior Account Managers
  • Line management responsibility, where appropriate


Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Demonstrate an interest in creativity in the healthcare advertising space (experience working in the healthcare space - advertising/creative agency experience and familiarity with pharmaceutical guidelines is required
  • Ability to work with client and agency staff on a day to day project management basis both independently and as part of the team
  • Pro-actively apply a thorough understanding of the client’s therapeutic area and ability to provide strategic input
  • Strong understanding of the healthcare environment and target audience gained through significant experience in a healthcare agency or pharmaceutical company role
  • Approachable hands-on manager, trainer, delegator with strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent project management and analytical skills
  • Financial acumen
  • The ability to distil complex information and produce simple, compelling briefs
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise; excellent time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to create relationships with colleagues in other companies across the Open Health group
  • Competent in using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Solid grasp of relevant digital technologies, including CRM systems
  • Sound understanding of what it takes to be compliant in the pharma industry, including knowledge of the ABPI code of practice
  • Projects managed effectively and delivered on brief, on time, on budget
  • Growing client business with a high degree of client satisfaction
